Week in Review

I have another post coming in a couple days that I want to share about Memorial Day, but I thought I’d better share what’s been going on here over the past week or so.

We ran our second Italian Missions’ Sunday and some specific prayer requests were answered. Right in the middle of the lunch, my good ole’ friend Dr. Mark Lehman from Taiwan comes walking in to surprise me. I haven’t seen this guy in 5 years and he just shows up in Northeast Italy with his buddy Tim. I guess they were hungry or something. :-)   It was fabulous to spend time with Mark again. Wow, word spreads fast and far when we offer lasagna from scratch.

The kids are just getting over 6, 8, 9 days of chicken pocks. We have sequestered them. They have imprisoned us (Sandy). I’m going to kill those chickens.

Computer crashed twice. Bad memory. Must be getting old.
On Sunday, I was given the opportunity to preach at the Chiesa Cristiana Evangelica (Christian Evangelical Church) of Pordenone. The Church has been in existence for 30 years and asked me to come & speak while their missions-pastor is away. It was a neat experience to speak to 50 Italians that actually agree with the Word of God (and to do it in their language — another fun experience for me).

On Sunday evening, we hosted a course on the Basics of Roman Catholicism. The course was great and my buddy Carlos Rodriguez did the grunt work and allowed me to chirp in occasionally. Two Italian ladies came to the course out of curiosity’s sake by way of learning English as well as the differences between Rome and the Scriptures. Within about 15 minutes, we had entered the subject of Marianism and dealt with perpetual virginity and the fantasy of immaculate conception etc. As we presented the Scriptures, the ladies both remarked again and again, “We never knew any of this before.” I can’t wait until they see Jesus for Who He is and remark, “We’ve never seen anything like this before.” Mark 2:12

Here’s a prayer request for my 3,000  3 faithful readers: We have recently had a Romanian lady turn to Christ. She has entered discipleship and we’re pointing her toward baptism. However, she has been turning back to a relationship with an abusive Islamist man. Over these next critical months, please pray for her to be established in the Faith. We need to fight spiritually for every fruit and fight to retain them when they profess Christ alone. We need your help in this.
